What is Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical treatment that gives you younger and healthier looking skin and can help to minimize the appearance of scars and irregularities in skin tone. Microdermabrasion is similar to a deep exfoliation where the top layers of dead skin are removed to reveal fresher skin underneath and promote rejuvenation.
Microscopic crystals are applied to the skin with a special applicator to remove dead skin without damaging the new, healthier skin underneath. This is superior and more effective than creams and lotions as it reaches the middle layer of the skin where wrinkles and blemishes are founded. Creams only reach the very top layer so any change brought about by application of creams are just superficial.
Microdermabrasion can be very effective for the following-
-Fine lines and wrinkles
-Scars (from acne or other sources)
-Uneven skin tone
At Nu, we have specialist practitioners who can formulate an individualized treatment plant for you skin’s needs. In general, we advise a course of 6-8 treatments to achieve the best results.
Prior to the treatment, the practitioner will prep your skin to ensure the best results are achieved. Then, tiny micro crystals are applied to your skin via a special applicator. Following the treatment a special, deep moisturizing cream is applied to help promote rejuvenation.
Following the procedure, your skin may appear red and a little swollen; this is completely normal and will subside in a few days. You should avoid direct sunlight or sunbeds for at least 72 hours after the treatment and where good sunscreen thereafter to protect your skin. Your skin will appear brighter from the first treatment but we normally advise 6-8 sessions to gain the full benefit.
