What is Excessive Sweating Treatment
Many people suffer from the condition of excessive sweating ‘hyperhidrosis’ and this can have a detrimental affect on work and social life. It is not clear what causes hyperhidrosis, but it is thought that it may be genetic as more than 2 out of 3 sufferers have a family member who also have this condition.
Hyperhidrosis happens when the body’s sweat glands become over stimulated releasing sweat more profusely. The more common areas to be treated are arm pits, hands and feet.
After the application of iodine to the affected areas we can identify where the overactive sweat glands are. These areas are treated with a series of small injections of botulinum toxin type A (Vistabel ?, often known as Botox ?). This relatively pain-free treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
You should expect to start seeing positive results between 3 to 14 days later. Results last between 8-12 months before the condition slowly returns, you can then choose to have the treatment repeated if you wish.
