International conference of plastic surgery was held at Renai Hospital on 18th of June, with the attendance of plastic surgeons from United States and reputed plastic surgeons in Shanghai. American delegation of plastic surgeons comprised of thirty nine plastic surgeons and delegation was led by Prof: Bruce L. Cunningham, MD, MS, Former President of American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) Professor of Surgery & Director. Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, University of Minnesota. Agenda of the conference this year was to exchange the expertise over certain surgical procedures between two countries as common plastic and cosmetic surgeries performed and cultural background behind such procedures are different between Asian and western countries. During the discussions, American surgeons discussed their experiences on breast reconstructions and tissue transplants while Chinese surgeons shared their experiences on maxillofacial plastic surgeries and reconstructive surgeries. Prof.Wang wei, From Medical College of Jiao Tong University made an excellent presentation about reconstructive surgeries which was highly appreciated by his foreign counterparts. Dr.Zhao Jun also made a presentation about Repair of Cleft Lip and Palate and facial recontourings. American surgeons were very impressed with the plastic surgery service at the Renai Hospital and surgical skills of Chinese surgeons as a whole and expressed their willingness to corporate in the future on such academic programmes. They also invited our doctors to participate in their academic forums will be held in the United states in the future. American Experts attended the conference are,
